What is a Matrimonial valuation?
A Matrimonial valuation provides a market valuation of your property which is then used to decide how joint property assets are divided between parties involved in divorce proceedings. Also, if a co-habiting couple agree to part and need an independent valuation to negotiate the division of their property.
Why would you need a Matrimonial valuation?
Divorce is a difficult time for all involved and when divorcees cannot decide how to divide their assets fairly then a matrimonial valuation will be required to establish how joint property assets are divided for divorce proceedings. You might also require this type of valuation if you want to buy your partner’s share of the property or sell the home.
An RICS registered chartered surveyor will provide you with an independent and impartial valuation in an RICS “Red Book” format so all parties involved know the market value of the property.
